Gray & Laurie Stettinius

For 27 years, we built and renovated the dream homes of cherished clients. Our small, hands-on company prided itself on quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and client-centric service. Performing custom residential construction along Richmond’s River Road and Cary Street corridors, as well as in cities and counties from Goochland to Nelson, White Stone, and Virginia Beach, we were honored by numerous awards. We were especially proud to receive recognition as Guildmaster With Distinction for eight consecutive years, from 2010 through 2017, as this designation recognizes the highest levels of customer satisfaction, measured by an independent third-party survey service, Guild Quality.

In nearly three decades of operating as Tuckahoe Creek Construction, Inc., which Gray co-founded in 1990, we saw an unmet need in the custom residential construction market. More often than not, prospective clients had either limited time, limited experience, or both, and consequently had difficulty identifying the professionals with whom they wished to partner, and getting traction in the planning process. Often, we were introduced after time and money had been wasted and frustration had set in. As we worked to help clients get things on track, we realized there was a better way to help folks sooner.

In 2017, we hung up our tools and embarked on a new chapter, inspired to leverage our experience and understanding of quality craftsmanship, best practices, and common pitfalls to launch a new consulting service, Tuckahoe Creek Construction Solutions, LLC. While we will always remember fondly our decades of partnering with fantastic clients, subcontractors, and vendors to produce many wonderful projects, we are now laser-focused on the kind of careful, well informed planning that enables projects to meet goals, budgets, and timetables with beautiful results. We are no longer limited geographically. We are thrilled that we can help clients navigate the maze of decisions and players involved in orchestrating a successful project anywhere!

Laurie Stettinius, Co-Founder/Administration

  • We had a great experience building a home with Tuckahoe Creek. Gray worked closely with us during the entire project and personally followed every aspect of construction. All of the sub-contractors were very professional and polite and did excellent work resulting in a home that is beautifully done and structurally sound. Gray also helped us with a myriad of details that make our home very personal and unique. Tuckahoe Creek exceeded all of our expectations and made the entire home building process a pleasure.

Dr. and Mrs. James F. Robinson

  • We have lived in our home for 30 years and as our family grew we dealt with many contractors but none compare to Tuckahoe Creek Construction. From the initial conversation to talk about the concept through the project’s final completion, TCCI made us feel as if we were their most important customer. Their workmen are master craftsmen but more importantly they are good and honest people who took great pride in building an addition that far exceeded our expectations. And they did it at budget.

    Aggie and Richard Cullen

  • We would highly recommend Tuckahoe Creek Construction to anyone considering new construction, an addition or renovations. Their ability to seamlessly integrate our new, outdoor living space and renovations with the features and challenges inherent with an older home was remarkable. When you work with Tuckahoe Creek Construction, you experience professionalism, attention to detail, resourcefulness and an outstanding quality of workmanship. They were a pleasure to work with and to have in our home.

    Melinda and Bill Hardy

  • They helped us with so many details in making decisions and were so positive and professional.

    Jane and John Fain

  • Tuckahoe Creek Construction is in a class all by itself; their attention to details that are seen and to details that are not visible separates Tuckahoe Creek’s craftsmanship from the work of other Richmond custom homebuilders. Tuckahoe’s integrity, honesty and dedication in bringing to life the dream home of the most discriminating clientele sets Tuckahoe Creek Construction apart from the rest.
